    GPIO FAQs

    1.After connected GPO to customer’s device, the customer’s device is not subject to change.

    Analysis: This phenomenon might be caused by following two reasons:

    a. The electrical level (LEV) of GPO currently in use is + 5V, please check customer GPI LEV.

    b. The LEV of GPO and customer GPI are matched, but still unable to drive the customer’s device because of the drive current of GPO is too low.

    Solutions:  aiming at above a, adjust GPO LEV of IPC or adjust customer GPI LEV .

    EG: the GPO LEV of BIS-6640 is 3.3V, after connected it to customer’s device, it failed to control the device, here, we need to add a board named ACP-924GP to BIS-6640, the ACP-924GP was created for raising the GOP LEV from 3.3 V to 5V via its transistor and MOS tube to reach non-insulation protection.

    Aiming at above b, adjust GPO drive current of IPC or adjust customer GPI drive current.

    Note: The max drive current of GPO generally is 25ma.

    2. After connected GPI to customer’s device and set the device to ‘on’, it still failed to GPI signal control. 

    Analysis: GPI input terminal doesn’t indicate control, although there is state change on customer’s device after connected it to GPI, this phenomenon lies in that the default original state of GPI is not in conformity with those of customer device.

    Solution: check and update customer GPO status, or adjust IPC GPI status.

    3.  After connected GPO to customer’s device, during short period application or at testing phase, GPO out of control.

    Analysis: normally caused by GPO circuit failure after exclude customer setting issues, check the GPO circuit, meanwhile, examine the impact of its operating environment and test method.

    Solution: first, confirm the operating environment is favorable and the test method is correct, and then, considering add insulation protection if due to GPO circuit failure of IPC. 

    Note: with GPIO isolation protection, GPO and GPI are fixed, which means GPO cannot be converted into as GPI.
